IE to be rotting in hell?
Rumour has it that Microsoft might be quitting the Internet Explorer development after its latest newcomer yet to be released, IE8. I must be honest, I don't know much about IE8 as the development stage just isn't something for me to follow and it sounds as interesting as watching a snail go by. Plus as I won't be dealing with it until it's published and running on most Windows machines just like IE7 and IE6 have been doing over the past years.
So why is this such a big deal? Well as a web developer, I'm rather annoyed by the limitations and weird things IE does interpreting the code you put up together building a website layout. CSS can be a whole new world when working with an IE compared to for example CSS made for Firefox or any other web browser. So this is actually good news for all us IE haters :)
Another thing to make this rumour a bit stronger is the fact that Firefox just got past IE as the most popular web browser around the world. So it's not impossible that Microsoft might be taking their silly little stupid baby off the market for a while.
But surely IE coming off the market completely without the likes of me having to be worried about the IE CSS working is just dreaming for years to come. See the pain in the ass is that we do need to take you dummies into account as well when we make the websites since you're still the majority in this modern world of ours ;)
Oh and where did I hear about this? Here it is:
