So I went to see the physio today. She told me that there are requirements I need to meet in order to go to that operation:
- my knee must go straight
- my knee must bend at least 90 degrees, preferably upto 110 degrees

We tried how it went today and I got it 10 degrees from going straight and upto 82 degrees bent. After a couple of excercises, I managed to get my knee to 5 degrees from straight and 90 degrees bent. So there’s some work to do…

I will have my control with the physio in two weeks. The operation is reserved for me so if all goes well, I will have my knee ready for surgery in two weeks. And taking the delay, I might have a surgery before Christmas. Which would leave me at least 5 weeks to recover. This being the worst case scenario again
According to the physio, after the surgery I would be required to see the doctor 3 weeks after the surgery and then 6 weeks after. So approximately every 3 weeks. I would be using the crutches for at least 3 weeks. Then shitloads of physiothreapy to get my knee function properly. So, basically it means that if I don’t have my surgery before Christmas, I might have to cancel my exchange as well.

But, me being the optimistic I’m hoping to have my knee ready for next time. Then 1-4 weeks until surgery. Then 6 weeks until all control checks are over. I’d be ready in early January - late January. Just in time for my early February exchange

So get your thumbs up and hope for the best!

It was a big day today for us Liverpool supporters. A game against Arsenal who had 6 consecutive wins before today’s game. Liverpool on the other hands, has been struggling with the wins and the team just hasn’t been playing the way they should if they wish to battle for the championship.

So Liverpool 11st eleven today:

Reina
Finnan - Carragher - Hyypiä - Riise
Gerrard - Mascherano - Alonso
Kuyt                                  Voronin
Torres

It didn’t look too good for me, but surely some might like it. Yet just after 8 mins we got a reason to celebrate as Gerrard took a cannon freekick shot from the edge of the box, Hleb moved away just enough and the ball found its way in the back of the net! 1-0 to L’pool.

The whole match was quite nice to watch, but the Finnish commentator on Canal+ sounded more like an Arsenal every now and then criticising Liverpool’s actions and defending Arsenal’s good acting skills.

Just around 40mins, Torres got a knock and even though being sort of out of the game the whole 1st half, it wasn’t too pleasing to watch him being substituted for the 2nd half. Peter Crouch marched in and from that point on the tactic was clear - play it long to Crouch’s head. I don’t support this as I know Crouch’s a good player with his feet as well so unless trying to get a freekick after Crouch is fouled outside the box… this is pretty useless.

Around 80th minute, Hleb had the ball in 20 metres, played it through past Carragher to Fabregas who nicked it past Reina quite easily and the game was 1-1. Disappointment was huge! I felt I just had been raped by a group of squarrels… not saying that I know what it’s like though.

So a 1-1 draw… In the end it doesn’t feel that bad as we were the clear underdogs in this match and considering the past few matches’ form, it’s ok to get a draw against someone who’s been winning the past 7-8 games in a row. But yet… It’s always disappointing to lose a 1-0 lead

Current Mood: Flirtatious & Confused

I suppose it’s time for another update so lets get this train going:

I received an e-mail from Comenius stating that they’d be happy having me there for exchange so I assume I’ve been accepted
Now I’m trying to figure out the courses I’m going to have over there and then send them a list. After that it’s all about waiting to get there.

Now as for the knee, which is quite important when considering my exchange. I went to see the doctor on Tuesday and I heard quite bad new, but also some good news:
My cruciate ligament has been torn and it needs to be operated. However, due to the fact that the nurses here are planning to go on strike, the operation might be postponed for who know for how long… So I’ve my fingers crossed to get to the operation asap since the recovery supposedly takes a few months. Of course I’m not planning to play football any time soon, but I want to be able to walk by the time I’m going to Slovakia. I asked the doctor about the possibililty and recommendation for going to exchange and he said that the sooner the operation is done, the better you’ll manage. But if the operation doesn’t happen anytime soon, I may need to cancel the exchange in order to attend the rehabilitation.

But as for the rehabilitation… I’ve my hopes quite high that I’d be able to do most of them back home. Considering the fact that my father just had a hip injury 2 months ago, he has recovered really good and has been able to walk on his own within just weeks. So the worst case scenario is something like this:
So if, as my doctor suggested, I have my operation before Christmas, I’d be able to walk by the end of January. Which is all good for me. I’m not planning to run a marathon or anything. I’m planning to attend school and just use my leg in everyday life. And as for the rehabilitation, I swear to my soul that I will do my everything to get myself in condition to go to Slovakia!

Almost forgot… I got a 2 month “sickday leave” from the doctor in order to “prepare” and take care of my knee for the surgery. I know this may sound excellent, but considering the fact that I’m on my 3-4 year of studies and have completed like 50% of them, it’s not too good. I’m running out of financial student aid months and… Well I know a way to solve this, but lets not go into details. 2 months off though… it’s pretty neat, but I will need to do my studies from home.

And the doctor also said that in case the first operation doesn’t work, a throughtout surgery is required. This would mean that most of my knee would be replaced by some iron “things”… I don’t know, but it sounds like I better recover to superb from my first one if I wish to avoid being a Terminator

Now… I think the exchange and leg issues are covered. Move along…

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, really. I’ve been really busy, but now that I’ve most of stuff done, I should be able to update my blog more often

Ahoj!

I got the application papers done today and took them to our international relations office with one exception. Due to to no available course list for exchange students, we were forced to e-mail the school abroad. So now, until then I’m just waiting a little bit more.

And the school? Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. Pretty neat, huh?
Despite the review I had on my options a couple of weeks back, I decided to go for it. And the reasons for this were mostly:

a) the lifestyle differs from western a little bit
b) CHEAP
c) I want to give it a shot even though I wasn’t sure if I was ready for going to .sk
d) something really new in a whole
e) other miscellaneous reasons

So, what now? Well I’m waiting for the list to come, most likely next week and then sort it out with my tutor teacher before sending it on to Comenius.

So that’s it for now. I will keep you and myself posted as the situation developes.
