Bummer… Okay, FUCK!

Went to the international relations office today to check if there’s been any progress with the exchange to Singapore. Well they (or the head of the office) hasn’t been able to contact anyone from Temasek so I asked if I should ask Sheikh to go holla at them to contact us. “No, that’s not how we operate.”… Please, “¤#%#!¤%!

Then I found out that I’m not even eligible to get there as I don’t actually study programming as it’s required. Well I don’t know if I’ve been completely lost or something, but how was I supposed to know that? It was in the list 2 months ago, I applied with a pen and a paper to exchange. Wrote down my name and study programme. Then she came to me accusing ME of trying to fool her:

She: “You’re trying to fool me. You’re not studying programming.”
Me: “No I don’t. I study Business Information Technology just like the application I made 2 months ago indicates.”

Pheef… So briefly:
The possibility of me getting to exchange to Singapore is about 5%, the 5% being very optimistic.

Soooo… I was asked/ordered to find another target for my exchange. I haven’t even considered anything else, but I started pondering my options anyway. They told me that going to Europe is a good idea as the financial aid per month is almost twice as much as I get here normally. So it got me really considering.

Right now I’ve limited my options to 4. Austria, Netherlands, Slovakia and Spain:
- Austria has been recommended by a bunch of mates of mine that have been there in exchange. So I’m thinking of giving it a go. It’s certainly something I’ve never thought of going to.
Possibility of going: 7/10
- Netherlands is something I’ve been to twice before, on vacation though. It’s a really cool place, but since I’m looking really for something new, it’s not that really. Even though I’ve been there for only like 10 days in total. And getting that experience can be archieved by going on vacation to Austria or any other country. But I must admit, I’m very fond of this country and it’s tempting because of its culture in football and cheap partying
Possibility of going: 8/10
- Slovakia attracts me mostly because of it’s location. Eastern Europe is somehow a thing for me as I’ve never been there before. Also the cheap lifestyle is a definite plus here. But a part of me tells that I might not be ready for it. Plus I head the Bratislava Uni is very tough… And how often the study exchange is planned for studying
Possibility of going: 5/10
- Spain is amongst Netherlands the most tempting option. The climate and relaxed lifestyle suits me like 2 eyes instead of 1 and. But I’ve heard things about going to Spain and to be honest, I don’t really know. I’ve been to Spain on holiday once, but I was like 12 years old so not much to remember.
Possibility of going: 8/10

So basically I’m between two options. I’ve 3 weeks until I need to get the application in. Besides, this leg isn’t really helping at all. Somehow I don’t see myself hopping around the campus in any country or using sticks everywhere. So I need to see how this thing evolves…

One thing is for sure though. I will go to exchange before I graduate!

Current Mood: Confused & Sickly

Oh my. I had a bad dream last night The first one was something about me being a pain in the ass to chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon. Don’t ask why I don’t remember much about that, but I remember the latter part of my dreams and it went like this:

I was in Tornio which is the city where I was born and raised. The next thing I noticed that 2 broken bones bones…like they had just been broken in half, were sticking out from my left knee. A huge pain and I wasn’t able to get my knee straight. So I went over to the closest school looking for a nurse or something. It happened to be the elementary school I used to go when I was little. So I looked for someone to help me and this young guy comes over to me helping with his assistant. Some young girl, both propably college age.

Then after checking my knee for a while, he suddenly grabs my leg and is starting to pull it straight with force. And just before he starts doing it, I go ‘Hey, what are you doing?!”. He says it should be better if we got it straight, any way possible. By force even. So I start yelling to him to stop right there as my doctor said that I shouldn’t try to get it straight by force. So this guy starts crying with his assistant and they run somewhere.

I was in huge pain so I started looking for more help. My leg was covered in blood and I was almost about to pass out. I wandered towards the field of the school. There was a musical concert in progress. I looked over there and there were shitloads of teenage girls and I looked who was performing. So as soon as they saw me, they started running towards the hill behind the stage! And then I saw who the performer was and I was just… Pheef. It was Antti Tuisku, a finnish pop idol.

So I went to him even though he was trying to get away as well. I yelled at him to stop and called him by name. He stopped, came to me. I asked for help and if he could get me a chopper or something as I was in cruciating pain. He said he couldn’t help me and he had to get going. So I left walking towards my childhood home just about 300m away. My knee was all screwed up, bones sticking through the trousers… A jogger passed by, I just ignored her, but I remember I envied her so much as she was able to run. I wasn’t.

The next thing I remember, I woke up and my knee was hurting really bad. It was like someone was sticking needles to my knee. So I got up from the bed and a new day began, in real life.

Current Mood: Confused & Playful

I watched the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards today and got me laughing when everytime someone sweared, instead of just the beep sound, a dark picture from upstairs the gala hall appeared. Like if they lost the electricity for a while or the broadcast just interrupted for a moment

Then I have to bring this up… Teenagers
Why on earth does a human being need to go through something like that? And I’m talking about everyone else than the teenager here! I mean this hasn’t been planned too well. I remember when I was a teenager. I just played Championship Manager all day and listened to music.

This just occured to me when my sister started talking about her classmates - these 16 year old teenage girls. I mean I know they’re the worst. I remember my sister, who’s now 19yo, being a pain in the ass when she was at that age. Here’s a small ‘they always’ list, quickie:
- they always think they’re right
- they always swear at some point of the sentence
- they always just start a fight from any minor issue there might be
And of course, they’re never even a tiny bit humble.

It got me wondering. Are these modern day blondes and so called ‘plastic girls’ an ‘advanced version’ of these teenage girls. I mean hasn’t the apple really even rolled a bit further from the tree? I’m just saying
And with the current flow of news from the entertainment world. I guess we’ll be getting more of these plastic girls in the future for sure when we have such role models as Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton… I mean I prefer looking at Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson or someone who’s at least a bit more mature with her behaviour.

I mean, today’s media sucks. That’s the truth. All these reality-tv series. Temptation Island, that Tyra Banks supermodel search thing…Big Brother, don’t even get me started with that bullshit! It has gotten way out of hands here in Finnish press (Iltasanomat entertainment news: FUCK YOU!)! Glad there are still normal tv-series left out there!

I mentioned Spears, Hilton and Lohan earlier. I’m just wondering… When do we get to see a paparazzi picture of a guy flashing his privates or having a bit aroused feeling

Oh, nevermind that. I don’t want to see that. Nor the already-seen-before cunts.

Current Mood: Alarmed & Sad

Oh man. I went to see the doctor on Friday again. This time I was prepared and I had my iPod with me, I read some magazines at the hospital and chatting on MSN with my mobile phone. Time was flying quite nicely really compared to last Tuesday.

So I got called in after about 2 hours and the doctor examined my knee. She thought there was no liquid in my knee, but she decided to make sure of it and stuck a needle in my knee, sucking a bit of blood. I was quite amazed as she tried to inject the needle to right spot for like a minute and then said “Hmm, I wonder if I hit the bloodvain.”. Oh, that’s the way to play a doctor. Know your area please…

So I got sent to the surgery department and some sort of a specialist had a quick look before sending me to x-ray. Quick photos at the x-ray chambe, limping back to doctor’s office. We had a look at the x-ray pictures which I didn’t understand much about. But I did see my knee there and apparently, according to doctor, there were no fractures which I think is a good thing!

So the diagnose is something like this:
My knee is swallowed, it shouldn’t have any liquid in it, no fractures and nothing else is broken. The doctor only recommended rest without forgetting to excercise it every now and then to make it more flexible.

After hospital I went to city as we had this huge student event in motion. We international student tutors had our checkpoint as well so I went there. And as natural, I was offered some drinks so I got in the mood a bit. I headed back home and grabbed a 12-pack on the way. I drank home before going to see the exchangees at the dormitory. I picked my cousin with me and we went to the city.

Now I wasn’t really drunk. I drank like 8 beers the whole day which isn’t too much for me. Then after like an hour or so I was coming down the stairs when my knee just slipped. I fell on the floor, picked myself together and got up with on one leg and hopped on to the closest chair. I sat there a moment and noticed I couldn’t step even a bit on my left leg. I then asked a bypassing friend of mine to walk me over to front door where I could get a taxi and head back home.

It’s day 5 now since Friday and I still can’t use my left leg. My calf is almost as bad as my knee and every morning I wake up, it’s ok but the moment I start using my left leg, the muscle in my calf gets so tight that it hurts all day! I’ve been hopping around like a rabbit with my right leg between my room, toilet and kitchen I feel really shitty as I can’t do anything but just chill and the pain is there all day long! I’ve an appointment with the doctor on 28th of Sept so I hope it gets better before that or it’ll be miserable 1,5 weeks ahead.

Current Mood: Angry & Sad & Sickly

Aye!

I’ve been sick the past few days with a flu and a fever. Well it’s been ok and I’ve managed. But yesterday was something different…
We went to play football with the exchanges students yesterday. It was all looking good and I had no problems with playing. Then we got a corner and I rushed to the edge of the box pointing to cross it onto my head while I did the run for the ball. Well I got to head the ball, but landing didn’t go too well.

I’ve had the spiral in my knee broken for the past 10-15 years since I stopped playing football in a club so there’s always a risk, but I saw a specialist last year who said that I should do sports since it just may work out just fine if it got used to being worked. So I player tennis and football all summer.
But yesterday, I fell down, twisted my knee and felt like Henke Larsson in overall. Massive amount of pain and yelling followed by going to the sideline. I just knew something was wrong so I decided to head back home. At that time I was able to limp back home the whole 200-300 meters. But as soon as I got back home, I twisted it again… *YELLING and SWEARING*… I decided to call my friend to take me to the hospital.

Then things got fucked up. My knee beamed the pain to my calf so I was hurting all the way from my knee to my calf. Then the fucked up system we have here in Finland with the healthcare took over.
- signing up for the care / 30 MINS
- waiting for them to diagnose / 3 HOURS
- diagnose / 5 MINS
- sending home / 5 MINS

So I just went in, waited for 30 mins to signup. There was a sign saying ‘Patients may not be taken in order they came in.’. We I thought I was in a pretty bad shape compared to these ‘Oh boy, I have a flu.’ people. So I sat down and waited for my name to be called… More people came in all the time and some were leaving.

Then after waiting for an hour, I noticed that this woman was before me in the line for signing up so I got my hopes up. But nope… Some another a-hole went in, then another, another… Then I noticed that some guy with a scar on his kneww from propably falling on the asphalt got called in after waiting for just 30mins. WTF, I
can’t walk, that guy CAN! After 3 hours I went to ask if my name had been called or if it even existed on the list.

Clerk - ‘Yes, it is here.’
Me - ‘GOOD, THEN WHAT’S TAKING SO LONG?!’
Clerk - ‘Sir, we’re taking care of people in the order they come in.’
Me - ‘That’s good, but I’ve been waiting for almost 3 hours and seen people arriving 1,5 hours later than me already going home. So what’s the sign over there for? Am I not too high on the priority list?’
Clerk - ‘Oh… Well I’m sure you will be called soon.’
M - ‘Well you better! There’s only 5 people left and it’s past 9pm already.’

Then finally I got called in. The doctor checked my knee. ‘No fluids’, she said. ‘Well that’s a good thing right?’, I asked. ‘Depends’, she replied. I was like what the fuck! She then said that she can’t risk me by taking a x-ray so she just asked me to come over again in about 2 days, gave me sticks and sent home.

The question of the week is… Am I going to wait 3 hours again to get in to see her?
