To get things started

As promised, I started a new category for the Bratislava exchange period so here we go.

I went to Rovaniemi to get the rest of my stuff from my apartment today. Sort of felt sad while I was cleaning the room I used to live in for 3 years, but yet I remember it all with warm heart. A lot has happened there and there's nothing I'd take back. Really good shit!

And to get the picture thingy going, here we go with the first 2 pics of my trip to world fame... Oh, I mean Bratislava (I'm already famous):

The image from my room is a bit dark, but it's watchable. So that was the view when I came back home from a night of drinking, crawling over the doorstep before heading to my bed to get some sleep and to worry about every single shit that is wrong in this world of ours.
In the 2nd image, I just had to take a picture of our beer/drink/alcohol closet. Note that the number of bottles and cans you see here is consumed in about a months time. Considering I'm the main guy of the household that did most of the drinking. The empty space in the middle was used by the microwave and I just took it away before taking the picture. But as you can see, plenty of beer consumed along with vodka, wine and even long drink cans. But it's not all mine, the guests had some too :D

As for the rest of the day. I wandered around the Rovaniemi city to meet my friends and to say goodbyes. To be honest, I only visited 3 places really. but it's not that I didn't want to, but I just didn't have the time to go meet everyone separately. So sure all of you who feel a sting in their heart because of my ignorance, shouldn't, as allthough you might not be aware of this and want to believe otherwise: I'm only a human after all, not a Santa Claus :/

So hey, keep in touch anyway. I will be online on MSN (hopefully), Skype, GTalk...erm, what else - Facebook (YO to all my 100+ friends!).

And to be honest. Once I left you-know-who-you-are's place after hugging everyone, I went out the door, walked into the elevator... It just hit me like you told me when you went abroad yourself and just realized it at the train station. It hit me as well and I'm brave enough to admit that I felt my eyes sweating (read: a tear) as I stepped out of the elevator.

But hey, we're here only once (except for me, I'm like a cat. I've 12 lives... yea, it's evolution. I'm the supercat. I'm Toni Tiger ffs.) so we should make the most of it!
Everybody has been asking me how I'm doing and if I'm nervous to go, but to be honest. I'm not nervous, I'm feeling superb and fucking want to go right now! But that's me, I want all right now. Money, wife, kids, sex, beer, vodka, ass, tits, house, power, food, fame (oh, got that one already)... HERE! NOW!

Okay, nuff talks... It's 5am. Exactly... I just had to get up from the bed after watching a movie just to post this and to get all arranged for the exchange blogging. But hey, that's what 2 cups of coffee and a bottle of ED can do to someone who doesn't drink coffee regularly, not to mention energy drinks.

I'm off to sleep bitches! Everybody say HOLLA HOLLA and shake your tailfeather if you feel alive! :P

Starting a new era

From tomorrow or Wednesday, I will start blogging about my departure to Bratislava. Tomorrow I will head over to Rovaniemi to get the rest of my stuff and give my apartment key away before returning back to Tornio. I will hopefully add some pictures to go along with the story as it progresses. Starting from the packing until I've settled down to my room in Bratislava. So bare with me and hopefully you'll come back for more :)

It should be an interesting storyline to follow and I will be starting a new category related to my exchange which I've yet to decide :)

Closer by the minute

8 days to go...

The day of my departure to Bratislava is getting closer and closer. I haven't started packing yet, but that day will come next week as soon as I get the rest of my stuff from my Rovaniemi apartment to Tornio. It's been a huge hassle to arrange all things before I leave with getting a credit card, vaccinations, change some money to local currency, a notebook case, insurances... Still have the packing to do, but other than that it's all good now.

Yet again, my main concern is my knee. It's been okay the past couple of months and I've been able to walk normally, but whenever I walk more than a couple of hundred meters, it feels like there's something wrong (not that there isn't). Sure when I'm drunk, it doesn't feel at all :)

I installed a gallery for my site yesterday for some pictures that I might be taking in .sk. I'm a lazy photographer and rarely take pictures, but I guess it's just the environment that I live in so once I get to Brati, it should be different as everything is new. I also installed this table script that I used in my last post for the Premier League table. It's something that I just tried and might use later on if I happen to update the table.

Anyway, enough of this. I'll get back to you once something interesting happens or I've something to tell.

Waazzzzaaaaaaaa!

Ah man, talk about mixed feelings!
So, the exchange has been confirmed by the school in Bratislava as well as my own school. So I'm definately going and I've been looking for flights now. No bookings as I want to see my options and a part of me always takes things with a certain caution and this case is no different. But the most likely flight I'm taking is on 1st of February. Here's the schedule for it (all local times):

16:30 - 17:30 Oulu-Helsinki
18:55 - 20:30 Helsinki-München
21:05 - 22:10 München-Bratislava

Now as you can see it's pretty tight even though there's a 1,5 hour wait in Helsinki which I don't mind really. Gives me time to grab some lunch before heading on and I won't be able to get anything to eat before Bratislava, excluding the plane food.

I had a look at some flights with no return, but they were like 5 euros more expensive and the flight time in total was like 2 times more. Leaving at 7am and having a 8 hour hold in Helsinki, no thanks. So I think I'm going with this one... Though I have no idea what the people in Bratislava think. Do I have a tutor and will he/she be expecting me until how late. I mean it's Friday night and all :) Sure I might be able to get to my accommodation on my own, but you never know and I don't know how long the reception is open (Hotel Druzba).

However, my plan now is to give my Rovaniemi appartment away. Not give away as in I'm leaving the place for good, but the foundation owning the building have this option for exchange students going abroad to leave the floating option. So basically I will be giving the appartment away, but I will still retain an option to get an appartment back once I return, not necessarily the same one, but according to the foundation: "at least the same quality, size and location" :)
I will also pick up my mail as I haven't seen them in the past 2-3 weeks now... Which reminds me, I received the acceptance letter from Comenius University. Well that's no news, but I had a look at it and they had made me one year younger. Aye, I'm born in 1982 baby! :D
It also had the semester defined. It'll go on from February to June 30th. Which just confirmed my plans. I will try to get to Vienna during the Euro2008 campaign :)

But I think that's all for now. It's 6am here... I didn't sleep at all the night before so I fell asleep around 10pm last night and just woke up. Might as well do some school work now... Nothing to do at this hour really. A couple of Sopranos episodes might be good.

Oh, and of course no one forgets the Liverpool - Scum United game today! I don't know about ya, but I've been a bit shaky the past couple of days :)

And hey! Comments, c'mon! I'm getting paranoid with no posts from except me and yet I see the polls "going wild" :)

Euro 2008 next door

Last weekend I was watching the FIFA World Cup 2010 group draw and I got to thinking that the European Championships are being played next summer. Then my brain worked a little and came to a conclusion to see where in Switzerland and Austria they are being played... So I had a look and holy shit, Vienna has all Austria's games and a few playoff games including the final!

Now why would this being anything special... Well the fact of me going to exchange to Bratislava and the fact that Vienna is like 60km away got me thinking of a small road trip :P
Sure getting a ticket to the games is hard, but I can imagine the atmosphere! Should be awesome :P

So now I'm waiting for next Sunday to see the Euro2008 group draw to see what teams are playing in Austria's group. I'm hoping for Sweden (pot 2), Spain (pot 3) and France (pot 4).

Eller vad säger ni grabbar?! ;) (Or what do say you, guys?! in swedish)
