I’ve been working with WWW graphics and websites since 1996 or so. Learning new Photoshop techniques, CSS, HTML have been the key elements in my work through the years. So I thought of bringing my work out:
What is it?
PunterAcademy is a betting tip website aimed for individuals who like betting on sports and seek for tips online. On this website you can chat about rumours, get good tips and just generally have a nice stay among betting friends.
How did I end up working with this project
Actually the owner of PA was the first one to contact me via this website about getting himself a website. Naturally we sent a few e-mails forth and back until we eventually reached a deal after the job description was agreed. Web layouts were done upon his request and wishes.
How does it work?
The mainsite is basically just for information about the website as a whole. The main thing are the forums who bring the users closer together. So the mainsite was built with simple Photoshop+CSS+HTML and the forums use phpBB 3.0.6 (latest at the time) and the forum theme has been customized by myself to suit the owner’s needs. CMS was under consideration, but since the website is basically just 2 pages, it didn’t seem too smart.
Räjäytyspalvelu P. Virtanen (english title under development)
What is it?
RPV is a blasting service contractor from Southern Finland especializing in rock blasting in all kinds of forms. I must say that I don’t know a thing about the profession, but the owner does and if you know what it’s all about and need such services, he’s your guy =)
How did I end up working with this project
Mr. Virtanen had started the company and contacted me via private message on the FM Suomi messageboards. We discussed a bit and agreed on a deal.
How does it work?
Well basically it’s a simplified HTML+CSS+Photoshop website. The layout done with Photoshop and putting it all up together with CSS while HTML is holding it together. No CMS was installed for now since the aim was to get the site up and running and no need for any updates were to be seen. In the future we might be looking onto enhancing it a bit if needed, but for now it does its work just perfectly.
What is it?
Jurvelin Racing is a snowmobile and motocross team from Rovaniemi, Finland. Brothers Janne and Veli-Matti both race motocross during summer and Janne is a reigning Finnish Champion (2008) in snowmobiles.
How did I end up working with this project
Janne is a friend of someone I know so I was originally asked to do their website a few years back. I accepted since I had been working on websites quite actively the past few weeks.
How does it work?
Now in Autumn 2008, I re-designed the whole thing and installed Cutenews to work as a CMS.
I naturally consulted the team members (who update the website) on how to keep the site up-to-date and it has been going wonderfully. With the new design, I installed the latest version of Cutenews and so far no problems have occured.
What is it?
The Finnish Liverpool FC Supporters Branch is an official branch related to the club itself. Its discussions and topics naturally go around the football club itself, but it’s run by plenty of Finnish LFC fans around the country. They have close to 100 members officially and on their forums they have over 300 members (as of 27th of Oct 2008) making sure the speculation and discussion around the club never dies.
How did I end up working with this project
I joined as a member to an alternative LFC Finnish forums a while back and though being a member of the branch forums’ as well, it was decided that they wanted to join forces. I volunteered to do the dirty work by bringing all the content from the alternative forums to this new forum. Now I also re-designed their website to look more modern and a bit eye-catching.
How does it work?
phpBB3 acts as the forum software. It’s used as it’s free and easily customizable. Website is done in simple gfx+HTML+CSS with a couple of PHP scripts attached.
What is it?
Well it’s this site. That’s brief enough.
Just kidding. I used to have plenty of earlier versions of this site starting with D-Blog in 2004 where I held my blog very actively though the website layout was extremely simple. Just a table on right with borders and text inside.
Then I re-designed the webpage after learning some Photoshop. I became more modern and had some graphics in it and yet a year later, I revamped it again, though this time the layout only. Just about a year ago I decided to give a try with Wordpress and here we are now.
How did I end up working with this project
Well it’s my website damn it.
How does it work?
Right now it’s Wordpress driven, but it used to work with Cutenews.
